Mister John Roberts, owner of Scruggs Barbecue once
again provided the food for the event and everyone ate
their fill. There was so much food and snacks that
plenty people carried some home after the event. Karate

unable to be there for his Award.

Grandmaster Joe Laney was this years recipient of
the Cross Training Award. This Award represents
what an individual has done over time to advance
the concept of crosstraining in his/her Dojo. As
has been the custom, Grandmaster Laney also
received a hand made walking cane fashioned by
Master William Mason.

Mr. Gary Long, representing the Harold Long family
and the associated foundation received the custom
made award that was created in this special year
(10th year anniversary of Grandmaster Long's
passing).

the "Spinning of her time" to create the art known as
Military Arnis.
.

Grandmaster Lisa McManus promoted Kevin McManus
to Master level Instructor. Master Kevin has been training
since he was 4 yrs. old and demonstrates a high level of
expertise as he works the floor as a teacher of the art.

Grandmaster Wilson accepts the award that names
Karate 5 as an affiliate school of Military Arnis. Karate
5 is in a unique situation as there is only 1 other
affiliate school of Military Arnis at this time.

Karate 5 has been blessed to see it's event grow to the point
where we can now take a different approach as to how we
market it. We have enough sponsors where we don't have
to depend on the number of people showing up to determine
if it's financially feasible to continue. That was why we decided
to open the event up to all ICA members this year at no cost.
Next year, it will be a closed event with invitations being sent
out to special people/dojo's that are sincerely interested in
the training that we do.
