Middle Tennessee Games 2009

Grandmaster Willie G. Wilson took a few minutes to explain Karate 5's
stance on tournament participation. Several people had asked him why
Karate 5 didn't attend certain tournaments this year and had made
the erroneous assumption that Karate 5 was "mad" at certain ones.

The Karate 5 board of directors makes out the schedule of
events for Karate 5 at the beginning of the year. Due to the state of
the economy, it was decided that we could not attend each and
every tournament. Therefore, we will rotate the tournaments and
attend 2 or 3 a year. The Hall of Fame will be one that might be
attended every year and the others will have to fit in the
rotation. Karate 5, like everyone else, has it's own agenda but
we try to be supportive of all approved Isshinryu based activities
even though we are not supported likewise.
Some Trophy Winners

6 of the 29 trophies won by Karate 5,are not in the picture
because some contestants had other committments and
could not stay until the tournament was over. We thank all
of the competitors for a job well done.

Karate five made a decent showing at this tournament
in spite of the fact that we had a lot of first timers on board.
We had 23 entrants and garnered:

     10 first place trophies

      5 second place trophies

     8 third place trophies

     6 fourth place trophies

for a grand total of 29 trophies
